Operated by the Kenall County Forest Preserve, Ellis house provides a safe and welcoming environment to learn and experience firsthand the lifestyle of a working farm and holistic horse care. It was established to fill the beginner riding program needs in the Kendall, North Grundy and Western Will county areas. They teach beginners balanced seat riding and hope to provide students to the more advanced lesson barns in the area when students finish their programs.

The Kendall County Outdoor Education Center (KCOEC) is located on the Hoover Forest Preserve, two miles west of Yorkville, Illinois. Due to it's unique setting the KCOEC has access to areas of prairie, hardwood forests, several streams and the Fox River. The facility also has several outdoor teaching stations, a small indoor classroom, a new team challenge course, a living history area and a Native American tipi.
